New Spindle Design
The creative juices were flowing when these designs flew from my fingers. With all the various beautiful shapes in nature, it is always a challenge to portray them in an art medium so unique. With all these new spindles, they have a 4 inch wide whorl to hold more yarn than ever. These would be especially good for plying. The cut out make it easy to see what the yarn looks like nearer to the shaft without unrolling the yarn itself.
The first of my new designs is a sand dollar shape with a serrated edge to catch yarn. Though larger than any sand dollar I own, it probably would have been worth it's weight in gold when sand dollar were used as currency. The second is in honor of my husband, a Templar cross. It started somewhat as a joke. One day, I noticed one of his necklaces, a bronze pendant with the cross on it, and I mused about making a spindle with the cross on it. He became intrigued at the prospect, so I spent the next few hours laying out the design and testing it. Lastly, the third is a Hurricane shape, but it also reminds me of crop circle. This design occupied days of my frustration and effort in obtaining a balanced and uniform shape. The end result, though, is a superb display when in motion. Thank you all for your continued support of my business. I truly appreciate all your kind words and especially photos of your own craft in action. Until next time! Cheers! |
